The shape of higher-dimensional state space: Bloch-ball analog for a qutrit

چکیده
Geometric intuition is a crucial tool to obtain deeper insight into many concepts of physics. A paradigmatic example its power the Bloch ball, geometrical representation for state space simplest possible quantum system, two-level system (or qubit). However, already three-level (qutrit) has eight dimensions, so that complexity exceeds grasp our three-dimensional experience. This unfortunate, given geometric object describing qutrit much richer structure and in ways more representative general than qubit. In this work we demonstrate that, based on states, it construct three dimensional model captures most essential features latter. Besides being indisputable theoretical value, opens door new type representation, thus extending beyond systems.
